Introduction to Programming for Business Analytics

Teaching in winter term

Introduction to Programming for Business Analytics is a hybrid course following the Inverted Classroom paradigm.

Each week, students watch lecture videos and study interactive notes, which are uploaded to Moodle. Their independent study is followed by a classroom discussion of the learned material in a live session. The lecture study material is accompanied by an exercise sheet and small-group tutorial sessions. During the tutorial sessions, the tutors help the students solve the practice problems on the exercise sheet.
Other course material, such as homework, quizzes, and bonus tasks will be discussed in the kick-off lecture.

Content

The goal of this course is to introduce students to programming using two high-level programming languages: Julia and Python. Through practice problems and exercise sheets, the students will learn structured programming using fundamental data structures and algorithmic thinking. The students will also be introduced to several Julia and Python libraries for data analysis and visualization, and learn how to apply their learned knowledge to solve business problems.
