Computational Optimization in Logistics
The course presents some of the main exact and heuristic solution methods for optimization problems arising in logistics and their application to selected problems such as vehicle routing, facility location, and network optimization. The course includes practical assignments involving, e.g., modeling, development and application of the presented solution methods.
After the course, the students are able to
- understand the main exact and heuristic solution methods applied to solve logistic problems,
- understand basic concepts of the development of optimization algorithms,
- understand, adapt, implement and compare different models and algorithms for the problem at hand,
- design reasonable numerical experiments to assess the performance of a solution algorithm.
